“Hey, kids. Team meeting up here,” Jack announced to Owen and Gwen before turning and entering the boardroom.
Gwen arrived to find Jack, Tosh, and Ianto already in the room.
“Is there a reason Ianto is standing in the corner?” Gwen asked, looking back and forth between Jack and Ianto.
“He was naughty, so now he’s being punished,” said Jack with a raised eyebrow, leaning back in his chair and putting his feet up on the conference room table, practically daring her to challenge him.
“That’s absurd,” Gwen (never one to resist a challenge) said. “This isn’t kindergarten Jack and Ianto is not a child. Ianto, love, come over here.”
Ianto did not move from his spot, the flexing of his fingers where they laced behind his neck and a small shake of the head the only indications that he had heard.
Jack’s grin widened as he turned to greet Owen. “Good, everyone’s here we can get started. So, who’s got an update for me?”
“Should I ask why Ianto’s in the corner? Or is this one of those things that I really don’t want to know?” Owen asked. “’Cause if this is some kinky game you two are playing, I so don’t want to know.”
“I’m trying something new,” Jack said with a smirk.
“Right, don’t want to know,” Owen said quickly.
“I think you do want to know,” said Jack, watching Ianto intently. “This is not a game that Ianto and I are playing. It affects all of you.”
Owen and Gwen snapped their gazes back from Ianto to Jack, as Tosh looked up from the tabletop. Tosh made eye contact with Jack, who gave her a small smile before she looked back down at the table.
“What?” Gwen asked.
“We’ve had some problems over the last few months,” Jack said evenly, never taking his eyes off Ianto, noting the deep breathing and the slight tremor in his limbs. “I’ve been lied to, betrayed, openly defied, and generally disrespected. Personal relationships and feelings have been allowed to undermined the effectiveness of the team. And, since none of you seem to respond to normal workplace discipline, I’m going to try something different. Ianto, over here.”
Ianto turned away from the corner and approached Jack as Jack took his feet down and pushed his chair back from the table. A small smile played across Jack’s face as he took in the flared nostrils, dilated pupils, and flushed skin apparent as Ianto came to stand next to him.
“Ianto Jones,” Jack said, crossing his arms as he looked up at the other man. “I want you to tell everyone here why you’re being punished, what infractions you’ve committed during the last week.”
“I…I,” Ianto stuttered for a moment before closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. “Yes, sir. I failed to get the weekly status report sent to UNIT on time. I didn’t restock supplies in a timely manner, leading to the shortage of biscuits yesterday afternoon. And I went to lunch with Tosh without inviting anyone else.”
Jack winked at Tosh before turning back to Ianto and tilting his head back towards the corner. Ianto bit his bottom lip, then turned and walked back to the corner.
“Right,” said Jack, adopting the tone universally recognized as Full Captain Mode. “Effective immediately, I will be implementing more…traditional methods of discipline. Corner time, writing lines, loss of privileges, whatever works for each of you.”
“Jack,” Owen said, rubbing his eyes, “you’re insane. This whole conversation is insane. We’re adults and…”
“Did I mention spankings for chronic misbehavior?” Jack asked absently examining his own fingernails. He didn’t miss the full body shudder and hitched breath from Ianto or Tosh glancing up through her eyelashes at Ianto’s arse, her eyes wide and tongue darting out to lick her lips.
“I’m leaving,” Owen announced. “Gwen, Tosh, you coming?” Gwen was on her feet and heading for the door when Jack responded.
“Don’t bother, Owen. Ianto, Toshiko, my office,” Jack said, never taking his eyes off Owen. “We need to discuss the rest of your discipline.”
Ianto gave a mumbled “Yes, sir” and Tosh a quick nod as they exited the room together. When Jack followed them a few minutes later, he found a trail of discarded clothing leading from the office door to the ladder down to his bunk.
“Hey,” he called as he climbed down. “If you started without me again I might really have to discipline the both of you.”
