Two Drabbles
Title: Four Walls

Challenge: tw100 challenge #185: In The Walls

Contained within four concrete walls, confined, never to escape, she lost hope. Her bleak surroundings represented only despair and depression and darkness and a longing for death.
When he came to save her, he tore down the walls and replaced each one: the first with light, the second with passion, the third with love, and the fourth with hope. Her cell expanded and she could almost forget it still existed.
In the end, the only walls left were those in her heart and mind and body and soul. She was still contained, confined, but comforted, content within those four walls.

“Jack, why is it that any time we go anywhere, we’re interrupted by a crisis? I mean, I’ve been coming here for years and there has never been any danger. You come with me once, and I’m dodging laser fire from an alien invasion force.”
“Hey, are you saying this is somehow my fault?”
“I’m saying that you, sir, are a bad influence.”
“I’m not bad. I’m just…I don’t know…”
“Drawn that way?”
“Yeah. It’s like I’m… attracted to trouble.”
“Like a moth to a flame?”
“I think I prefer ‘sailor to a siren’ myself.”
“Of course you do, Captain.”

The first one so perfectly describes Tosh. And she died too soon for us to see her tear down those walls.
