A/N:  Posted in response to the jantosparkle Pornsgiving Party and the leftovers theme.  I started this before COE and have never felt up to doing anything with it since then.   I don’t see myself ever finishing this, so…

He saw the young man crumpled on the floor in front of him, lifeless and still.  Jack could not let him go like this.  He is not ready to lose yet another member of his team, not with the memories of Suzie so fresh.  So, Jack did the only thing he could think of in the situation: he kissed Ianto, deeply, strongly, and with passion, desperate to push some of his own life force, his own immortality, into the other man.  Willing the younger man to accept this spark, willing him to live.

Jack felt a certain responsibility for Ianto now and vowed that he would make the rest of this young man’s life, the part he felt responsible for giving—less painful than his life until now.  He would not allow Ianto to go unnoticed and unappreciated again.

Jack had had willing partners in the past, but none with such a desperate need for him.  At times, when they were alone, it was almost as if Ianto were still feeding off him—drawing his breath into himself and absorbing his energy.

Jack watched as Ianto became more confident, more powerful, stronger.  He hoped that his employee, his partner, his lover, would not grow to the point where he did not need Jack anymore, hoped that he would not decide to move on and pursue other interests.  But, as time passed and Ianto remained this seemed less and less likely.  After the trip to India and the encounter with the time store, Ianto appeared even stronger.  When Ianto expressed himself as Jack lie in a trance, he still had not realized that he would not be just a blip in time for Jack.  As the months turned to years, Jack began to notice the ways that Ianto had changed:  he needed less and less sleep, less recovery time after an injury, and (Jack’s favorite change) less recovery time after orgasm.  It took Jack longer to notice the ways that Ianto had not changed: despite the job stress, the long hours, and the repeated injuries Ianto did not appear to have aged.  There was no graying hair, no wrinkles, no less resilience.  As the years passed into decades Jack began to expect that there was more happening than he knew.  And when Ianto reached the century mark both realized that Ianto was, truly, feeding off Jack’s life force.  And they were happy together, knowing that, at least for now, Jack would not be alone.

Wonderful! This is definitely how it should have been. So much could have been done with this idea on the show, discovering that Ianto heals faster and sleeps less, exploring how he adapts to the changes... It would have been fascinating.
