It was rare for things to be quiet at this time of the year. It wasn’t like aliens took weekends and holidays. (Jack explained once, they did. Just not Earth weekends and holidays.) Cold and snow never stopped an invasion; tinsel and fir trees were no deterrent. If anything, it seemed, the holiday season brought an increased number of problems. And no one ever remembered to warn the new hires beforehand. Not that it would matter to most of them. But, arriving home late to face an irate Rhys, Gwen could only say that her first Torchwood Christmas had been…interesting.
