Takes place immediately after Something Borrowed and is, as usual, not the story I intended to write.
As Ianto enters the Hub, his eyes are immediately drawn to a scattering of confetti--tissue paper and glitter—on the floor, just inside the cog wheel door. One more mess to clear up, he thinks, but hardly the top priority. Right now, he needs to concentrate on the mess that is Jack.
“You’re brooding,” Ianto states, leaning against the doorframe of Jack’s office.
“No, I’m not,” Jack sulks.
“And now you’re lying to me,” Ianto says flatly. Jack looks up from the pictures he has been studying, his eyes wet with unshed tears. “Or maybe you’re lying to yourself.”
Jack stares back for a moment before dropping his gaze and muttering, “She’s Rhys’ now.”
“She always was, Jack. But you, you’re mine.”
“You’ll leave me too, one day. I can’t give you a normal life, a family, someone to grow old with,” Jack says dejectedly.
“None of that matters to me, Jack. You’re mine. And after your behavior today I think you need to be reminded of that fact.”
“What did I…?”
“You know perfectly well what you did,” Ianto admonishes. “You don’t get to run down the aisle insisting the wedding be stopped one minute, then turn around and dance with the bride like you’re the bloody groom the next,” Ianto says as he stalks across the room to stand near Jack. Ianto crosses his arms and looks down at Jack, still seated, before ordering, “Stand up.”
Jack blinks up at Ianto before asking, “What?”
“I said ‘stand up’,” Ianto says, leaning in to speak close to Jack’s ear. “I want your arse out of that chair this instant.”
“I…,” Jack starts, but Ianto merely raises one eyebrow and Jack quickly stands up.
“Good boy,” Ianto purrs. Jack watches as Ianto grabs his coat and holds it out. “Let’s go.”
“Where are…?”
“Jack, who do you belong to?” Ianto cuts off Jack’s question.
“You.”
“That’s right,” Ianto replies, helping Jack into the coat and smoothing out invisible wrinkles. “And when you’ve doubted that before, what did I do?”
“You…spanked me?”
“Yes. What else?”
“You fucked me, pounded me through the mattress?”
Ianto smiles indulgently. “Yes, I did. But you still have doubts. I can blister your arse and fuck you raw, but as soon as the marks fade, you forget.”
“Sorry,” Jack says quietly.
“I think you need a more…permanent reminder of who you belong to. A mark that won’t fade so quickly,” Ianto says, clearly expecting Jack to follow him out of the office, down the stairs, and across the catwalk.
“So, you aren’t going to fuck me?” Jack asks, trailing behind Ianto as they head towards the parking garage.
“Later,” Ianto says, voice pitched low. “If you’re good. And if you’re very good, I’ll spank you first.”
Jack stops with his hand on the door handle of the SUV, letting the frisson of arousal run through his body. He climbs into the passenger side and hooks his safety belt without comment. Jack says nothing as Ianto drives through the dark and deserted city streets. Ianto watches Jack out of the corner of his eye as he heads towards the rougher section of town and he can see the moment when Jack recognizes the business he pulls up in front of. He is waiting for Jack to object, but the older man says nothing.
“You have a choice here, Jack,” Ianto says, walking into the storefront. “You can have my name tattooed around your left ring finger, where everyone will be able to see it and know what it means. Or, you can have it tattooed across your arse, where no one save me will ever see it, but there will be no sex and no spanking until you’ve completely healed.”
Jack seems to consider this for a second before holding his left hand out to Ianto. “I want everyone to know,” he says almost too low to hear.
Ianto lets out a breath he had not been aware he was holding. “Thank you,” he says softly and kisses Jack, before turning around to arrange the details.
When the two men are lead into the back Ianto ignores the chairs and sits on the padded table, pulling Jack to sit between his legs. With his arms wrapped around Jack’s waist they watch the artist prepare.
“Blue?” Jack asks, noting the ink.
“To match your eyes,” Ianto replies. He holds Jack’s hand in his and brings it to his mouth, gently kissing the knuckle of the ring finger. Jack relaxes into Ianto’s embrace and slowly their breathing synchronizes. Both watch through glazed eyes as two bands of brilliant blue are circled around Jack’s finger. Ianto whispers soothing, comforting nonsense to Jack as his name is inked between the lines. When it is finished Jack moves to stand, but Ianto holds tight. “Not done, yet.”
Jack watches as red ink is drawn through a clean needle and looks back at Ianto with a question in his eyes.
“I’m yours, every bit as much as you’re mine,” Ianto says, smiling shyly and blushing. “Unless you don’t want…”
“No,” Jack says quickly. “I want this. I just want you to be sure. I don’t want you to regret this someday.”
“Never,” Ianto says, kissing Jack softly. The two settle back to watch as two red bands and Jack’s name are tattooed onto Ianto’s skin.
