“I know I’m kind of the new guy around here, so, this may be a stupid question,” Rhys says to the small crowd gathered in Jack’s hospital room.  “But he can’t die, right?  Well, the way I understand it he doesn’t exactly stay dead.  He just comes right back, yeah?”

“Yeah,” replies Gwen warily, somewhat confused by the question.

“So…, Why not just kill him and see if he comes back…fixed?”

Gwen thinks about this for a moment and then reaches for her gun.  She tells Rhys quietly, “you might want to restrain Ianto.  He really won’t like this plan.”

I bet he won't. at least in Deadline.
Because in my fics Ianto would be the one to shot Jack out of this bed.

I loved Dead Line, but I wondered about this at the time...

One of the problems of having a hero who can't stay dead, I suppose - it's hard to put him in danger without resorting to the quick fix, kill him and he'll be fine.
