Tony bit back a yelp as Agent Coulson’s hand landed on the same spot for the third—make that fourth, swat in a row before moving to fresh skin.

“Sir, I did warn you I was authorized to use any methods necessary to insure that you remained on the premises.”

“Yeah, well, I thought you’d…I don’t know…shoot me,” Tony gasped between smacks.

“I don’t think that’s necessary. I can make my point without causing any permanent damage.”

“You sure about that? You’re a lot stronger than you look.”

“Wrangling egos like yours all day,” Coulson laughed. “I have to be.”

Tony yelped and spun around to level an intense glare at Bruce. “What the hell was that?”

“You were having a panic attack,” Bruce replied, maintaining the eye contact without flinching and crossing his arms over his chest.

“So?”

“Pepper said when you get yourself all worked up like that, the fastest way to bring you back down is to smack you.”

“On the ass?” Tony’s voice went shrill.

“Pepper didn’t specify where,” Bruce replied evenly. “I improvised.”

“Yeah, well….”

“Look, if it makes you that uncomfortable, I’m sorry. I won’t do it again.”

“That would be a damn shame.”
