Seven Drabbles, Plus Thank yous

Thank yous to megans_writing and chamilet for the gifts!

And here are seven drabbles for this week's tw100 challenge.  This just goes to prove giving me a day off when everywhere is closed is a bad idea.

Title:
Tales of the Madman Underground
Author:  czarina_kitty
Characters: OC, Jack
Challenge: tw100 challenge #179—Book Titles
Rating:  PG

Notes: I do not own, or make any money from the use of, these characters.

“Mother used to tell the most interesting stories about her mother.  About working for Torchwood in the old days, before they were well known, when they worked out of a secret base under the bay.  She talked about Cybermen and pterodactyls, bringing back the dead and rewinding time, a rift in time and space.  Mother always said she learned the stories from her mother, that they were all true, but I think she just had a gift for storytelling.  I mean, sex crazed aliens and evil faeries?  That couldn’t be true, right Uncle Jack?”

“It’s all true.  I was there.”

Title:
The Unnameables
Author:  czarina_kitty
Characters: Owen, Ianto
Challenge:
tw100 challenge #179—Book Titles
Rating:   PG

Notes: I do not own, or make any money from the use of, these characters.

“What the hell is that?” Owen asks.

“I’m not sure,” Ianto replies.  “Tosh can’t figure it out, I’ve not come across anything like it in the archives, and it isn’t like we can ask Jack.”

“So, what do we do with it?  It could still be dangerous.”

“There is a protocol,” Ianto says picking up the containment box and heading down to the lower levels, Owen trailing behind.

“We just file it for now.”

Owen marvels at the room they have entered, boxes stacked floor to ceiling as far as the eye can see.  “What is this?”

“Section U, ‘unknown’.”

Title:
Going Bovine
Author:  czarina_kitty
Characters: Jack, Ianto
Challenge:
tw100 challenge #179—Book Titles
Rating: PG-13

Notes: I do not own, or make any money from the use of, these characters.

“It’s alright, everybody stand down.  They’re a peaceful species and I happen to speak the language.  I’ll have this sorted in no time.”

“Jack—"

“Not now, Ianto.  The language is tricky.  If I pronounce anything wrong I could ask for a date rather than request they leave the planet.”

“Jack—“

“Unless you want a threesome.  Could be fun.”

“Jack—“

“Right, sorry.  You’re not into that.  I know.”

“Jack—“

“Yeah, I know.  Not in front of the rest of the team, although…”

“Jack, shut up and turn around!  That’s not the alien.  That is a cow.”

“Moo?”

Title: I Am Furniture
Author:  czarina_kitty
Characters: Ianto
Challenge:
tw100 challenge #179—Book Titles
Rating:  PG

Notes: I do not own, or make any money from the use of, these characters.

It’s so easy to hide in plain sight, to fade into the background and become invisible. The don’t see me, they never have.  They don’t notice when I disappear for hours because they don’t notice me when I’m there.  They don’t notice when I’m distant because I am never close.  Sometimes, I wish they did see me, that someone would notice me, notice my pain.  Some days, I want to reach out, to scream, anything to draw attention.  But I don’t.  I can’t.  For her I remain unseen, stay in the shadows.  For her, I remain invisible.  I am furniture.

Title:
In the Path of Falling Objects
Author:  czarina_kitty
Characters: Rhys, Gwen
Challenge
: tw100 challenge #179—Book Titles
Rating:  PG

Notes: I do not own, or make any money from the use of, these characters.

It was becoming a habit.  Dinner ruined, plans postponed, promises broken.  It had started with a flaming meteorite over the streets of Cardiff, the first time she left him behind to run alone towards adventure and excitement.  Since then, too many late nights and missed moments to count, far too many close calls and sleepless nights.

Today, another fireball in the sky, this time over London, and she went running towards it, straight into the path of danger, like a moth to the flame.

This time, he ran by her side as she carried their unborn child into the fray.

Title:
How to Say Goodbye in Robot
Author:  czarina_kitty
Characters: Lisa
Challenge: tw100 challenge #179—Book Titles
Rating:  PG

Notes: I do not own, or make any money from the use of, these characters.

This wasn’t the way it was supposed to end.  This was meant to be a beginning, not an end; hello, not goodbye.  She knew they had started with the same goal: to fix her, make her whole again.  But, somehow, she wasn’t strong enough and their definitions of whole began to differ.  As the cyber components wormed deeper and deeper into her she felt herself slipping away, the last vestiges of humanity fleeing.  She knew that she would never be human again, never be Lisa again.  What she didn’t know was how to tell him before it was too late.

Title: Shiver
Author:  czarina_kitty
Characters: Jack, Ianto
Challenge: tw100 challenge #179—Book Titles
Rating:  PG-13

Notes: I do not own, or make any money from the use of, these characters.

Ianto stands at attention in the office as Jack stalks around him in an ever decreasing circle.

“You have been an absolute brat all day.  Questioning my interrogation techniques, mocking my decision to use the mind probe, complaining about my manners in bed to Gwen…You’ve been a naughty boy today, Ianto.  I really should punish you for this.”

“Yes, sir.”

“Do you have anything to say for yourself?”

“No, sir.”

“Then drop your trousers and bend over the desk, I’ll show you just how scary I can be.”

“Yes, sir.”  This time a shiver really does go down his spine.
